with low fidelity cameras on a micro-budget Neva'
Goin' Back #7 is a "Digital Noir" character study
which reveals the hidden condition of a suspicious man capturing images
of his inner city neighborhood on a small, sometimes hidden, video camera.
Shot partly from the point of view of his camera/computer, and conversely
through myriad other surveillance images, a realistic portrait emerges of
a fragmenting man's struggle in an equally fragmenting city.
Shot on location in the streets, alleyways, hotel rooms, and strip clubs of San Francisco's Tenderloin district, Neva' Goin' Back #7 features several distinctive character performances from trained actors, as well as some very fine work from local amateurs. Long takes from single viewpoints emphasize the actors, challenging them to keep it real. The result is a hybrid style blending viral video realism with classic Noir situations and locations. |
